About the role
As an IT Systems Administrator, you will help maintain and support secure, reliable IT systems across data centres, customer sites, and business environments. You will work with infrastructure, servers, domain services, databases, networks, and applications to support system availability, performance, security, and operational continuity.
This role is suitable for candidates at an early stage of their systems administration career who already have some hands-on infrastructure experience. We will also consider junior Database Administrators who have database maintenance knowledge and a clear interest in developing broader infrastructure skills. Advanced specialist expertise, including PKI, is not required.
What you will do
• Monitor, maintain, and support servers, networks, operating systems, databases, and third-party applications.
• Support Windows and/or Linux environments, including user access, permissions, domain controllers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy, according to the systems in scope.
• Perform routine database maintenance activities, including monitoring, access administration, backup and restore support, health checks, patching, and basic troubleshooting.
• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support, investigate incidents, fulfil service requests, and escalate complex issues to the appropriate specialist teams.
• Monitor infrastructure and application events, respond proactively to alerts, and contribute to root cause analysis and problem prevention.
• Install, configure, patch, and maintain standard hardware, software, virtual machines, and infrastructure components.
• Support planned deployments and changes, ensuring they are tested, documented, approved, tracked, and supported by appropriate back-out plans.
• Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset records, operational reports, and support procedures.
• Collaborate with internal teams, customer users, suppliers, and third parties to meet agreed service levels and improve system reliability.
• Use scripts and support tools to automate routine administrative tasks where appropriate.
• Follow ITIL-aligned incident, event, problem, and change management practices.
ABOUT YOU
You are a practical and motivated IT professional who enjoys understanding how systems work, resolving technical issues, and developing reliable solutions. You take ownership of your tasks, communicate clearly, and are comfortable learning from more experienced colleagues while progressively expanding your technical responsibilities.
What we are looking for
• Some hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, database administration, or enterprise technical support. Junior candidates may be considered.
• Practical knowledge of domain-based environments, including domain controllers and Active Directory concepts.
• Database maintenance knowledge is required. This may have been gained through a System Administrator, Database Administrator, infrastructure, or technical support position.
• Junior Database Administrators who are interested in developing infrastructure and systems administration skills are encouraged to apply.
• A structured approach to troubleshooting, incident resolution, documentation, and operational follow-up.
• The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, customer users, suppliers, and technical specialists.
What you will bring
• Higher education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant practical experience.
• Knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Experience or practical understanding of Active Directory, user and access management, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Knowledge of database operations and maintenance, such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or another relational database platform.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, LAN, VLAN, VPN, routing, and firewalls.
• Awareness of backup, recovery, patching, monitoring, virtualization, and system-security practices.
• Experience with a service-management or ticketing tool and an understanding of incident and change management.
• Good written and spoken English, with the ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
• Customer-focused communication, analytical thinking, and a calm, methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Relevant technical certifications, scripting knowledge, cloud exposure, or familiarity with PKI would be an advantage but are not mandatory.
Work requirements
• This role is primarily office-based and may include work in data-centre environments, where moderate noise levels may be present and appropriate protective equipment will be provided when required.
• Participation in an on-call rotation may be required, depending on the team's structure and the needs of supported 24/7 services.
• Compliance with applicable customer and TOPPAN Security policies and procedures relating to quality, security, safety, business continuity, environmental management, and legal requirements.
• Use and support of standard company tools for remote access, monitoring, asset management, service management, and operational support.
• Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the EU and able to obtain the security clearance required for national-level operations.
• Occasional international travel may be required for implementation, training, testing, acceptance activities, or support visits, up to approximately 30%.
• Candidates must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid passport and any visas required for international travel.
