ABOUT THE ROLE
As CFO of our joint venture in Addis Ababa, you will oversee all financial operations including financial planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, risk management and cash flow. You will provide financial insights to stakeholders and support strategic decision-making to drive profitability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Planning
Develop, execute short/long term financial strategies related with the company’s objectives/goals.
Perform financial modelling, forecasting that support the strategic decision-making in the company
Assess, advise, regulate the investments in equipment, facilities, and financial viabilities
Provide direction to functional heads and drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve financial strategic and operational goals.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and communication of financial policies and procedures that support operational efficiency, compliance, and innovation.
2. Financial Analysis, Reporting and management
Analyse financial data to identify trends, opportunities, potential risks with the operations.
Provide insightful financial reports and presentations to the executive management and stakeholders.
Analyse, oversee, maintain, report timely financial datas’, but not limited to bank statements and relevant financial aspects.
Monitor, Manage cash flows, liquidity, AR, AP and relevant financial performance of the company.
Monitor, manage working capital requirements, to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
Oversee, direct capital plannings, resource allocation and management to maximise returns.
3. Cost Management and Budgeting
Establish, Oversee and monitor budgets for operational cycles, including but not limited to direct labour, materials, overheads, cost re-runs.
Analyse, oversee, maintain, report budget variances and implement corrective actions to optimise the costs required operationally.
Identify, monitor cost saving opportunities within the business processes.
4. Risk Management
Identify, assess potential financial risks associated with the operations, but not limited to price fluctuations, disruptions etc...
Develop, maintain, implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company’s financial stability.
5. Operational Management
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance team, ensuring that all functions are aligned with the strategic objectives and meet performance benchmarks set forth.
Monitor financial performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust strategies to ensure the achievement of operational financial targets.
6. Leadership and Team Development
Lead the finance and accounting team, provide guidance and mentorship to the team members.
Retain, develop the efficiency of team members with unreserved guidance, skill enhancement and industry updates.
Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement strategic financial planning that align with organisational needs.
Provide leadership and support in the areas of employee relations, industrial relations, and organisational development when required.
7. Compliances and Internal Controls
Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and regulations of relevant stakeholders.
Oversee, implement, maintain strict financial interna controls to safeguard the company and avoid errors, frauds.
8. Strategic Executive Support
Provide executive support to the CEO, Board of Directors in relation to high-level corporate governance, financial decision-making, and financial initiatives.
Manage critical relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, investors, and the wider community when deemed necessary.
Facilitate the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and performance metrics.
Ensure that the organisation maintains its Gov’t required certifications and other relevant accreditations, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance.
Champion the company’s culture, driving initiatives that enhance teamwork, transparency, and accountability.
5. Performance Management and Continuous Improvement
Lead the performance management systems, ensuring that finance teams and individuals are consistently achieving set goals and standards.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, safety, operational efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
Maintain regular communication with the CEO on progress toward strategic financial goals, risks, and areas that require immediate attention.
ABOUT YOU
You are/have :
The Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and support organisational change.
A strong ability to define and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
A solid expertise in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, risk management and financial analysis.
Experience managing relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders
The Ability to clearly communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
Qualifications & Experience :
Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, Commerce or related field. MBA preferred.
Certification: ACCA / Chartered Accountant certification required.
Experience: Minimum 16 years of experience, including 10 years in senior financial leadership roles.
Additional Requirements
Strong commitment to corporate governance and ethical financial practices.
Knowledge of local and international financial regulations.
